Special SAT Memberships

During the recent Society for Asphalt Technology (SAT) AGM which took place on 29 July 2020, Mahendren Manicum, the Managing Director of Naidu Consulting and Steph Bredenhann, a Principle Specialist at Naidu Consulting were granted special memberships to the organisation.

Mahendren Manicum, is a Professional Engineering Technologist with more than 20 years of experience. His extensive geometric and specialist pavement engineering experience through the KZN Department of Transport and Naidu Consulting has been complimented with a strong passion for upliftment and social development. Having taken on the role as Managing Director of Naidu Consulting in 2013, Mahendren has continued to contribute toward the advancement of pavement engineering technology through several voluntary organisations including SAT, SAICE, SABITA and CAPSA. He was made a Fellow of SAICE in 2018 and his extensive technical contribution to the Asphalt Industry at large has been acknowledged through his special membership as a Fellow at SAT.

Steph Bredenhann is a Professional Engineer with more than 40 years’ of experience in large infrastructure and roads projects, with specialization in the structural design of pavements. He is proficient in the application of both linear elastic and nonlinear methods in finite element analyses and has written several papers which have been referred for international journals and conferences. He has lead research on PG Binders as well as the implementation of the related specification and has contributed toward updating the numerous pavement manuals. Steph acts as an examiner of post-graduate studies as well as study leader at the Stellenbosch University. He chairs the Bituminous Materials Lead Group of the Road Pavement Forum. His contribution to the industry has earned him a Honorary Membership at SAT.
